Brand Photography for LCCM

A request to support a brilliant London music college, LCCM, with a visual refresh turned into one of my favourite commercial projects of last year.

The brief: document daily life, environment and equipment at their Waterloo campus, plus two of their increasingly popular live jam events at their in-house venue Music Box.

Leaning into my 20+ years of experience photographing London music scenes and events, plus my training in documentary photography and photojournalism, I came up with creative ways to gently light the learning spaces to match the energy of the students and music within them.

Artist Portraits

Here are some recent portraits of and for multi-disciplinary artist Vanessa Farinha and singer-songwriter, poet and performer Breezy Lee. Both were photographed in Hastings, with Breezy’s portrait session happening on a very cold day. This didn’t prevent her from submerging herself into the English Channel in a beautiful vintage slip dress and bright ribbon.

Vanessa’s photographs were taken at her home on a slightly warmer day. I thought that the environment somewhat evokes are recent work about council estates and architecture.

Last week I visited the wonderful Tillingham Vineyard near Rye. I was lucky enough to catch it as the sun was setting on one of the beautiful Spring days we’ve been having here in Sussex. As it was the weekend, my son came with me and loved watching the sheep and the goats especially. Thanks for having us Tillingham!

Hastings Weather

I have been loving the weather in Hastings this week. So incredibly changeable which means I’m not always prepared for the sudden downpours. I got stuck in one today which meant waiting under one of the solid but weather worn white bus-shelters on the promenade until it stopped. Except it didn’t. So I got my camera out and made the most of the seasonal drama. Those are the photos in the bottom row (except the middle one which is view from the office this evening).
